My main scientific expertise relates to cell biology and histology in general and to the functional morphology of the gastrointestinal system with focus on the autonomic innervation and neuro-immune interactions.

As a microscopy expert and histologist I guide researcher through the entire process of their imaging experiments. To do so I have a broad scientific background and in-depth knowledge of microscopic systems.

My major research motivation is to gain insight in the cell biology of age-related diseases using systems microscopy.

My expertise lies mainly in sample preparation and microscopy. I am responsible for guiding and assisting ACAM users in the appropriate choice of technique and its practical implementation.

My research focus is gaining molecular insights in ventilator-associated pneumonia and SARS-CoV-2 pathogenesis and epidemiology.

I am working on image-based cellular phenotypic profiling with a particular focus on nuclear morphology. Using my gained knowledge I assist ACAM users with their image analysis.
